HRW Report Says FBI Pays Recruits to Commit Terrorism, Frames Defendants

With Masha Gessen’s new book “The Brothers Tsarnaev” receiving favorable reviews, even though Gessen has the temerity to ask hard questions, a story buried for a year in the mainstream media is all the more relevant.  Human Rights Watch found that  the FBI is literally paying recruits, often mentally incompetent, to plot and commit acts of terrorism.  One of the authors of the report, Andrea Prasow, said:

“Americans have been told that their government is keeping them safe by preventing and prosecuting terrorism inside the US…But take a closer look and you realize that many of these people would never have committed a crime if not for law enforcement encouraging, pressuring, and sometimes paying them to commit terrorist acts.”

Recall that during the Boston incident, it emerged inconveniently for the FBI that federal agents were swarming Cambridge long before MIT police officer Sean Collier was shot.  This was confirmed by an MIT police supervisor.   This is one of the inconvenient facts which Gessen refers to in her book.

The damning HRW report says the FBI “facilitated or invented” a suspect’s willingness to commit violence.

The HRW report, if true, should be enough to launch congressional inquiries into the FBI’s actions, which, if true, border on felonious.  As if Americans don’t have enough to worry about from real terrorists and lone shooters, the people it entrusts to protect them are in fact the ones endangering their lives.
